Nursery Progress: Window Shade

I'm going to start posting all of the things I'm doing to decorate the baby's nursery. It is so much fun to have a room to paint and decorate. I love the fact that my boys have a blue bedroom and my daughter will have a pink bedroom. It's a classic idea that I am totally enamoured with!

I've been spending way too much time looking at design blogs lately. I just love them! They give me great ideas of what to do in the nursery I'm working on. Last week I finished making a window shade that I found a tutorial for on little green notebook. It's like a cornice board, but instead of being made of wood, I cut a piece of foam core into the shape I wanted and stapled on my batting and fabric. The foam core cost me less than four dollars and was so easy! To hang it, I used some L-shaped brackets that I had leftover from another window project. Isn't this Amy Butler fabric sooo cute? That combined with the scalloped shape of the shade makes it so feminine. I love it.

I can't decide if I want to add some long curtain panels behind the shade or not. It's been hard to find fabric in the just the right shade of pink in a geometric pattern that I've got set in my mind and can't let go of. So until I find that perfect print, I'm working on some other things: wall art and as soon as I get some more fabric that I ordered, I'll be sewing some custom bedding.

Only four weeks until Baby K comes!
