Cherry Cherry

It was Memorial Day a few days ago, and we had some visitors come to town. Amber and Tim's Aunt Sherrill were here visit us. I just love those two!

While they were here, we took Amber and Sherrill up to Clovis to pick cherries. This is our second year picking cherries, and it has become my favorite Memorial Day tradition ever (but when the only other Memorial Day tradition is a family reunion in Porterville with the trashy side of the family, it's not much of a contest). I've got a thing for u-pick farms. I love being able to eat and pick the freshest, best fruit of the crop and getting it so much cheaper than the grocery store. We picked and ate tons of cherries. Henry carried Amber's bucket and helped her fill it up. Owen tripped two times and dumped his bucket each time, and I kept thinking of the game "Hi Ho! Cherry-O" and was glad there were no birds or dogs around to steal our cherries. I pushed the stroller up a tree-lined hillside littered with tree branches and irrigation lines that made McKinley's ride pretty bumpy.

The cherry crop is fantastic this year. We came home with eleven pounds of cherries--most of them are already gone, and even though my stomach hurts a little as I type this, I can't stop eating them!

I love cherries! I wish they were a little cheaper here or that I could pick them to save on cost. Lucky!
